See the Light without Going Blind

Last night I attended a concert at a small venue in Seattle called the Vera Project. It is a small, non-profit club that hosts music acts and holds various art classes. The venue is small and intimate, holding less than 400 people.

When the lights came down for the headliner, a band named Why?, there were dozens cameras going off. Standing behind a photographer, I noticed that the digital camera flash isn’t as intense as a traditional one, but still allowed for good pictures. I’m sure that the performers appreciate the new technology: I can’t imagine being on stage with old-fashioned flash bulbs going off constantly just a few feet from your faces.

Protect Your Memories

Almost everybody has a digital camera nowadays.  Most cameras will come with a free camera case so you can keep your camera secure when you put in your bag or pocket.  But you can always buy a camera case that will fit your camera and other accessories as well.

There are camera cases that have small pockets where you can put your extra memory cards.  Some have wrist straps so they are easy to carry on your hand.  Some have belt loops so you can easily hold them in your belt.  There are cases that are made with waterproof materials.  And there are cases that come in different colors and designs.  You can easily find one that is perfect for you and your camera.

Peripherals for a Digital Camera

So you’ve bought a brand new digital camera for yourself, a relative, or a friend, and are now done shopping… but you’re wrong!  Digital cameras, just like a computer, laptop, or cell phone aren’t often ‘plug and play’.  There are several peripherals you, or the person the camera is intended for, will need to make the most use of it.  The most important thing to purchase is a memory card.  Digital cameras often come with small memory cards that aren’t capable of holding many pictures, and ultimately the user will have to purchase a larger one.  You will also want to consider a digital camera case.  This will keep the camera free from scratches and abrasions, and can also cushion the blow should it be dropped.  You might also think about a camera stand that can be used for timed pictures or for photography.

Camera peripherals should be available in most places that sell cameras, and unlike cameras themselves, don’t differ much in quality or appearance (excluding the memory card which is camera specific).
